About Barry County Humane Society

Barry County Humane Society is a 501(c)3 located in Southwest Lower Michigan dedicated to protecting animals, preventing animal cruelty, and promoting animal welfare through activities including: rescuing and sheltering animals, rehoming pets, providing foster homes for cats and kittens, providing low-cost spay/neuter services, assisting with financial aid for veterinary care, and creating an environment of education within Barry County regarding the health and welfare of pets.

President

Tim McGavin

Tim is our current President and our long-standing TNR guy with a big heart for rescuing and caring for animals. He loves to gab and is the go-to person for just about anything. He's definitely the heart of our organization!

Vice President

Mary Fisher

Mary keeps us running! She's most often the person manning the ship and focusing our direction! If you've been to our office, you've most likely met Mary. Her heart of gold and dedication have kept BCHS going and fighting for animal welfare in Barry County!

Secretary

Kay Doyle

Kay's background in design and dedication to details has served us well in all of our endeavors! She's also the proud lead on our Facebook Page and keeps our monthly meetings from running too far amok. Thanks Kay!

Treasurer

Carol Mantle

Carol started our journey to a new website! She's our financial backbone who not only helps us stay on budget for mission-driven goals but helps to identify where we might be needing more assistance. We'd be lost without her!

Recently (July 2026) Lea found herself talked into an assistant treasurer position! Her passion and drive for BCHS and all of our missions is evident with every action. We look forward to seeing what amazing things she'll bring to the team!

Meet Our Media & Fundraising Team

Barry County Humane Society (BCHS) began it's Media and Fundraising Team in June of 2026, its membership continues to grow and new ideas flourish with each passing meeting. The team continues to drive innovation and charges ahead with full speed! Our projects thus far have included: Tractor Supply Adoption Events, the Homeward Bound Cat and Kitten Adoption Program, a Website Rework, and Hastings 2026 Summerfest! More to come!
